Massage & Bodywork Basics for
Beginners - January 23, 2012
All of us have an innate ability and interest to share
the
relaxing and healing power of touch with others. This workshop will awaken your
own inner healer and offer you the tools to practice the art of massage and
bodywork mindfully, effectively, and safely. We will discuss some of the basics
of physical and energetic anatomy and demonstrate techniques that can be used
when offering massage to others. The modalities used will be drawn from Swedish,
Myofascial Release, Sports Massage and other traditional schools of massage.
Participants are encouraged to sign up in pairs and will work together to
practice the massage techniques.
Note: This is not a professional training course for massage
therapists. It is intended for non-therapists with an interest in massage and
sharing some basic techniques with others.

Yoga for Pain Relief - Coming Soon!
Back pain has become
such a common experience in our society that many believe it is simply a
rite of passage - a natural part of the aging process. However, back
pain does not have to be permanent and can actually be relieved with a
mindful yoga practice that focuses on proper alignment while lengthening
and strengthening the affected muscles. In this workshop, Registered
Yoga Teacher (and recovered back pain sufferer) Brian Critchley will
introduce a therapeutic yoga practice that can address many of the
common causes of back pain. No matter what triggers your back pain
episodes (long hours of sitting, driving, heavy lifting, or other
structural issues) you will learn the tools to practice yoga safely and
for the maximum therapeutic benefit. No prior yoga experience is
necessary, but if you are in acute pain please consult your doctor

House Yoga Retreat in Island Falls, Maine
to offer a 4-night “Relax & Renew” yoga retreat. After visiting 3 times and
experiencing such powerful peace and growth during his visits, he has decided to share it with fellow yogis (and yogis-to-be!) from central NJ. Sewall House offers the relaxation benefits of a
small bed-and-breakfast type getaway with skillful yoga instruction to deepen
your practice and calm your mind.

Daily Schedule:
7:30am Optional Silent Meditation
8:00am Hatha Yoga by Brian
9:30am Homemade Breakfast
After breakfast, guests may plan nature outings, massages, or just relax and unwind. For guests staying close to home, a midday munch will be served around 2:30pm.
5:30pm Kundalini Yoga by Donna w/Live Music (Fri & Sun) or Yoga Nidra Guided Mediation (Sat)
7:30pm Homemade Dinner
